A tan sólo 10 minutos caminando desde la estación de Tobu Nikko se encuentra Akinoya, un restaurant de Yakisoba (fideos fritos).
El personal es muy amable y la comida es deliciosa. Cuentan con algunos platos para vegetarianos, menú especial al mediodía y también venden para llevar. Todo eso lo hace un lugar muy recomendable!

Monkey Ningyoyaki at Mishimaya
You may know the famous ‘See no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil’ Three Wise Monkeys sculptures at Toshogu Shrine in Nikko. At Mishiyama, just a few minutes away from Tobu Nikko Station, you can find these cute monkeys made of delicious baked dough, filled with sweet bean paste.
They also sell other shapes of Nikko popular things and places, such as Toshogu or the Sleeping Cat. It’s the perfect souvenir! (Just remember to eat them within 3 days after buying them)

Sakaeya Fried Yuba Manju
Sakaeya is right across Tobu Nikko Station, and it sells their original Ageyubamanju that can only be found at their shop.
This delicious product is a bun filled with anko (red bean) paste, wrapped in yuba (tofu skin), fried, and finally salt-topped. This sweet and savory combination may seem unusual, but it’s uniquely tasty. And only 200 yen a piece!

Nikko Miyamae Dango
La popular tienda de dango se encuentra en Nikko desde hace alrededor de 300 años, y sirven unos de los dango más deliciosos de la zona.
Este postre japonés está hecho con bolitas de harina de arroz, colocadas en brochetas y luego asadas. En Miyamae se pueden probar en varios sabores, como por ejemplo salsa de soja o miso, y luego son recubiertos con una salsa secreta y azúcar morena.
No se los pierdan!

Caminando a la noche nos encontramos con Nikko Dining AO, uno de los pocos lugares abiertos para cenar en Nikko.
Si bien no sirven comida japonesa, es una buena opción para probar su comida hawaiana, hamburguesas y diferentes estilos de cervezas, como también sus pancakes y postres.

Grand Festival at Toshogu Shrine
The Reitaisai (Grand Festival) will be held next May 17 and 18 at Toshogu Shrine, so you shouldn’t miss it if you are in the area!
From 10 in the morning on May 17, a ceremony is held at the shrine in the presence of the head of the Tokugawa family, Sanshikai officials, and other dignitaries and guests.
From 1pm, archery on horseback is be performed in a special area, and in the evening three portable shrines are brought to Futarasan Shrine and the Yoinari-sai (Evening Arrival Ceremony) is conducted by priests from both shrines.
On May 18, the Portable Shrine Procession (Mikoshi togyo sai) will start at 11am. It is referred to as the procession of 1,000 Samurai and it includes over 1,200 attendants divided into 53 categories, including warriors in armor who will escort the portable shrines to the Sojourn Hall.
Also, special food offerings will be made, and other activities such as Sacred Artistic Rites performed by Eight Shrine Maidens and incantations read by the Chief Priest will be performed.
The ceremony will end when the procession returns to Toshogu Shrine.
