Many different restaurants offer them in Nikko area, as a separate dish or as part of a menu (usually a vegetarian set).

Nikko maitake mushrooms are grown at the feet of Nikko Mountains. Thanks to Nikko’s natural environment and techniques used, these mushrooms are excellent in texture and flavor, and one of the best maitake mushroom bred in Japan.
There are several stores and restaurants where you can find them in Nikko, but you can eat delicious fried maitake mushrooms at Steakhouse Mihashi, next to Kanaya Hotel and Shinkyo Bridge.
Mihashi is one of the few steakhouses in Tochigi Prefecture that serves the “Tochigi Wagyu”, so you can try the maitake mushroom and also their unique steaks.

Today, the Reitaisai was held at Toshogu Shrine. At 11:15am the Portable Shrine Procession (Mikoshi togyo sai) started. It is referred to as the procession of 1,000 Samurai and it included over 1,200 attendants divided into 53 categories, including warriors in armor who escorted the portable shrines to the Sojourn Hall.
Also, special food offerings were made, and other activities such as Sacred Artistic Rites performed by Eight Shrine Maidens and incantations read by the Chief Priest were performed.
The ceremony ended when the procession returned to Toshogu Shrine.
Did you miss it? You can see it again on October 17th, but in the meantime here are some picture we took today.

A tan sólo 10 minutos caminando desde la estación de Tobu Nikko se encuentra Akinoya, un restaurant de Yakisoba (fideos fritos).

Sakaeya is right across Tobu Nikko Station, and it sells their original Ageyubamanju that can only be found at their shop.
This delicious product is a bun filled with anko (red bean) paste, wrapped in yuba (tofu skin), fried, and finally salt-topped. This sweet and savory combination may seem unusual, but it’s uniquely tasty. And only 200 yen a piece!
